PowerINSPECT 6.0 offers all the original features of PowerINSPECT 5.0
and the following major new features:
ƒ  Custom Action toolbar (see page 4) - A new pull-out toolbar
enables you to play scripts as part of the inspection sequence and to
create items that are played only when specified conditions are
met. These include:
ƒ  Conditional Stop items.
ƒ  Conditional Print items.
ƒ  Conditional Script items.
ƒ  Simple measures (see page 9) - A new feature that enable you
to quickly create items to measure the distance between two
features on a part, including:
ƒ  The Simple Measures Wizard.
ƒ  A new group type to contain Simple Measure items.
ƒ  A new Simple Measures toolbar.
ƒ  New measurement items for Geometric groups.
ƒ  Creating Datums (see page 25) - Datum items are now available
on the Alignments toolbar as well as from within geometric group,
giving you the ability to add Datum items to the Definition level of
the inspection sequence.
ƒ  Geometric elements (see page 26) - There are several additions
to element definitions, including:
ƒ  The ability to choose fitting algorithms has been extended to
more element types.
ƒ  The ability to control the start position of partial curves.
ƒ  The ability to explicitly choose the side from which features are
to be probed.
ƒ  Hem edge points (see page 30) - A new Surface Inspection
Group option that enables you to measure rounded edges.
ƒ  Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (see page 32) -
The True Position feature of the GD&T Wizard includes more
elements, including all point elements.
ƒ  Icon changes (see page 36) - Several changes have been made to
the buttons in the Element toolbar to help distinguish between the
different features.
ƒ  Machine tab (see page 37) - The Machine tab now includes
the ability to sort the Probe view and to copy probe definitions.
ƒ  Auto-accept probed points (see page 40) - A new feature
that enables PowerINSPECT to automatically save your
measurements and continue with the next item in the inspection
sequence as soon as the specified number of points are probed for
an item .
ƒ  Working with probed points (see page 44) - Several new
features enable you to display, select, and work with individual
probed points. These include:
ƒ  Appending points to measures elements
ƒ  Selecting and discarding measured points.
ƒ  Creating new elements from the Point Cloud toolbar.
ƒ  Selecting single points from the CAD view.
ƒ  Displaying the probed points in the CAD view.
ƒ  Dragging probe points (see page 53) - New mouse and
keyboard combinations enable you to control the axis in which a
probe point can move when it is being dragged.
ƒ  Displaying probed points (see page 55) - You can now display
the probed points of geometric features as colour-coded confetti in
the CAD view, and control which points are displayed (see page
60).

ƒ  Geometric items context menu (see page 58) - A new
combined context menu enables you to select and work with
elements in the CAD View.
ƒ  HTML reports (see page 62) - There are several enhancements to
reports, including:
ƒ  Displaying the colour scale.
ƒ  Repeating CAD views.
ƒ  Displaying the number of probed points for geometric elements.
ƒ  Rigid cylindrical probes (see page 66) - Users of rigid
cylindrical probes can choose whether to use a pre-touch point to
identify the surface on which an edge is located.
ƒ  Options (see page 68) - The Options dialog includes several
new settings, including more geometric confetti options, extended
control over label colours and the ability to set probing defaults.
